Keeping your heart healthy
September 05, 2025
This month, we’re focusing on heart health to celebrate World Heart Day on 29 September!
Did you know?
If you’re living with pre-diabetes, your risk of heart problems—like heart attack or stroke—is higher. This is because high blood sugar can hurt your blood vessels over time.
People with type 2 diabetes are also more likely to have heart issues than those without diabetes.
But here’s the good news — you have the power to protect your heart!
By taking small, healthy steps now, you can lower your risk and feel better every day.
Simple ways to care for your heart:
- Try to keep your blood sugar (glucose), blood pressure, and cholesterol in a healthy range
- Eat more healthy foods (like veggies, fruits, whole grains)
- Move your body every day – even a walk helps!
- If your doctor has asked you to lose weight, start with small changes
- If you smoke, try to quit – your heart will thank you
Need help?
- Talk to your GP if you’re worried about your heart

Every step you take makes a difference. You’re already doing something great by being part of the 2kg Challenge – keep going!
