Recipe of the Month: Keep it Light this Spring
September 22, 2026
Spring is here and it’s a great time to add more fresh vegetables to your meals.
This month, we’re sharing a healthy twist on a favourite Indonesian dish: Gado Gado.
Gado Gado means ‘mix-mix’. And that’s exactly what it is: a delicious mix of vegetables, noodles and protein, topped with a creamy peanut sauce.
Why we love it
- Packed with vegetables – use fresh or frozen vegetables
- A good source of protein – eggs and tofu can help keep you feeling full
- A balanced meal – with vegetables, protein and carbohydrates
- Budget-friendly – use whatever vegetables are in season or on special
The best part? You can use almost any vegetables you have at home. Carrots, cabbage, broccoli, snow peas and bean sprouts are just some ideas. It’s also a great way to use up vegetables sitting in the fridge.
And you don’t need lots of equipment. All you need is a microwave and a pot.

Give it a try
This recipe comes from our friends at No Money No Time. It’s simple, tasty and easy to change to suit what you have at home.
Your 2kg Challenge
Try adding an extra serve of vegetables to one meal each day this week. Fresh, frozen or canned – it all counts!
